Access Key Question - Guild Wars Forums

Are the keys that come with the CE to unlock the goodies a completely seperate key from the one to play? Like.. If I bought a key online, then my CE showed up, could I take the item/dance key and apply it to the key I bought online, then just use the access key as a backup or gift for a friend? Or is the item/dance key the same as the access key?
